Almost Christmas time. That short time of the year where if you work and commute on the train/tube like me you get a few days of relative comfort in your journey, even more so than a normal Friday when seemingly half of the planet opt to work from their pit. Secondly, if you are like me it’s when you get a re-stock of running socks for the year ahead. Thirdly, if you are like me you nip out for an hour or two every day and get a daytime run in. Bliss.
We recently enjoyed a great turnout at the annual curry night, organised as ever by the incomparable Ian Haylock. It was great to see those of you that made it, and for the others that didn’t, you really missed out. In particular those of you that opted to watch Arsenal that night…
This Thursday we’ll gather for some pre-Christmas drinks at The Adelaide. Hoping for another super turnout for this one; I have now completed the annual quiz and I can tell you it’s one not to miss :-) If you have any old running books please bring them along and look for a potential swap with someone looking to do the same.
In other news, Ollie has been doing some super work on securing a new kit provider. He can give you all the required details, but the upshot is that we are hoping to open a window in January for online ordering of vests, T-shirts and other items. More details to follow but great progress and hopefully you’ll like what you see. There is still some old Hugga and NB kit which you can get your hands on sooner. Ask a member of the committee or post on Slack if you want something!
We’ve also been finalising details on SHAEF participating in the Surrey league next season. Some of these events, as well as others, have been added to the club Strava events for 2020. Look out for more details soon on this too … we are also looking for willing members to put themselves forward as potential male and female captains, so speak-up!
Welcome also to the newer club members over the past month or so. Great to see more folks continuing to sign-up.
Happy Christmas all and get studying random athletics topics ready for Thursday.
Ian.
